Ciarán

Mac 8 Performance was founded in 2011 and is run by Ciarán McDonagh.

Ciarán, a former international athlete now a leading physical therapist, is highly regarded by the athletes that he has treated especially in the world of Track and Field and GAA. Ciarán has worked exclusively with the likes of Ashton and Brianne Eaton, the Jamaican Sprint Team for at the London 2012 Olympics.

Ciarán holds the record for the Junior Under 23 and was the first Irish man to set the record of jumping 8 meters and still holds the Irish record currently of 8.07 meters in the long jump. Ciarán has over ten years firsthand experience of the rigours of training and competing at the highest levels. His Personal Best - Indoor 60 meter is 6.79 second and 10.44 seconds for the 100 meters. At 7th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in 1999 he competed in the final and finished in the top ten with a long jump of 7.90 meters.

Ciarán has amassed a varied and broad wealth of knowledge through working under coaches such as Zbigniew, Orywal, Terri Cahill and Paul Doyle as an International Long Jumper. This background in professional sport has provided the level of knowledge that underpins the treatment and support that his clients can expect to receive at his clinic in Dublin. He understands the frustration of injury having had it curtail his own athletic performance during his career so his passion is now to help others overcome theirs by pioneering treatments and developing focused rehabilitation.

Ciarán is a specialist in athletic injuries with an emphasis on correcting and preventing musculo-skeletal and connective tissue injuries and biomechanical imbalances and takes a wide ranging approach, which he describes as 'outside the box', to deal with his the injuries he sees. "Treating the injury itself is just one part of the process, finding and treating what causes the injury is as important. If that can be found and fixed it will prevent re-injury and means you will come back a better, stronger athlete."   His expertise covers all sports injuries and also common aches and pains experienced with everyday life.

Educating clients on their injuries and their bodies is central to Ciarán’s ethos, and central to them remaining injury free.  His clinical experience and background as a former International athlete and ongoing active participation in sports gives him a unique fresh and positive approach to treating you.
